Better HUD Mod 1.12.2/1.10.2 adds loads of new elements to the in-game HUD. Each can be enabled or disabled, customised and moved around the screen using a responsive positioning system. You can fine-tune your perfect HUD.

Features:

  • Armor Bars: Shows you the current status of the armor you’re wearing with durability bars and the item itself.
  • Arrow Count: Keeps track of the total number of arrows you have in your inventory.

    • This can be configured to display over bows in your hotbar.
  • Biome: Shows the biome the player is standing in.
  • Block Viewer: Shows the current block you’re looking at in a tooltip-style window.

    • This can be configured to show block IDs and metadata or show custom inventory names.
  • Blood Splatters: A screen overlay with blood particles when you take damage.
  • Compass: Shows you where you’re headed, using a horizontal compass display.
  • Connection Info: Shows you the IP, ping and number of players on the current server.
  • Coordinates: Shows the player’s X, Y and Z positions.
  • CPS: Shows the current clicks per second and the number of clicks in the current burst.
  • Distance: Shows the distance to whatever block the player is looking at.
  • Experience Info: Draws over your XP bar, showing you how many XP points you have in the current level and how many you need for the next.
  • Food and Health Stats: Shows the numeric amount of food, health and saturation the player has.
  • FPS: Shows frames per second, just like the debug screen.
  • Full Inventory Indicator: Shows a warning when your inventory has no empty slots left.
  • Game Clock: Shows the current in-game time and date.
  • Hand Bar: Shows you the current status of the item you’re holding, with durability bars and the item itself

    • This can be configured to show the offhand as well.
  • Heal Indicator: Shows an indicator when the player is actively healing.
  • Hide Players: Useful on big servers, simply hides other players so you can play in peace.
  • Horse Info: Displays a box when you look at a horse showing its speed and jump height.
  • Hunger Indicator: Shows an indicator when the player is hungry, flashing faster when the player is more hungry.
  • Light Level: Shows the light level at the player’s feet, just like the debug screen.
  • Max Level Indicator: Shows an enchanted book when the player has reached level 30.
  • Mob Info: Shows health for animals and mobs.

    • This can be configured to show the armor points a player has and their held item.
  • Pickup Count: Shows a list of items the player has recently picked up, and their counts.
  • Potion Bar: An alternative to the vanilla potion display (although this was introduced before the vanilla version existed).
  • Sign reader: Shows you what signs say clearly, even if looking at the back of a sign or one that’s too far away to see.
  • System Clock: Disabled by default. Shows system time as most OSs do.
  • Water Drops: A screen overlay showing water drops when it’s raining or you go underwater.

How to install:

  1. Make sure you have already installed Minecraft Forge.
  2. Locate the minecraft application folder.
    • On windows open Run from the start menu, type %appdata% and click Run.
    • On mac open finder, hold down ALT and click Go then Library in the top menu bar. Open the folder Application Support and look for Minecraft.
  3. Place the mod you have just downloaded (.jar file) into the Mods folder.
  4. When you launch Minecraft and click the mods button you should now see the mod is installed.
