Caelus API 1.17/1.16.5, a small utility mod, abstracts vanilla elytra behavior and exposes it to mod developers who want to implement elytra flights in their mods.
Modders need to call the CaelusAPI.ELYTRA_FLIGHT attribute if applicable. This attribute defaults to 0, which prohibits any elytra flights. Elytra flight is possible with attribute values greater than or equal 1 This attribute has been added to vanilla elytra items, but its behavior is the same as before.

How to install:

  1. Make sure you have already installed Minecraft Forge.
  2. Locate the minecraft application folder.
    • On windows open Run from the start menu, type %appdata% and click Run.
    • On mac open finder, hold down ALT and click Go then Library in the top menu bar. Open the folder Application Support and look for Minecraft.
  3. Place the mod you have just downloaded (.jar file) into the Mods folder.
  4. When you launch Minecraft and click the mods button you should now see the mod is installed.
